Bad American Literature: Honorable Mentions

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Could any book have moved slower? Movie wasn’t too bad though.

An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser

What in the hell was this? Why was I required to read it? What utter misery.

Moby Dick by Herman Melville

Great in a movie-incomprehensible in a book. P.S. I liked “Jaws” the first time I read it, when it was called “Moby Dick” To be fair the author also synthesized a Norwegian novel where the mayor is afraid to take some kind of action blah blah blah.
